Abstract
Karimunjawa is an inhabited nature conservation area and a tourist destination of local and foreign tourists. Growing population and tourist increases the demands for clean water. The clean water source in Karimunjawa is PDAM and wells. However, the water is limited and water scarcity often happens, especially in the dry season. Therefore, Water Conservation Facility is necessary in Karimunjawa for water processing and education. The Water Conservation Facility is located in Jl. Kapuran, Karimunjawa, Jepara Regency, Central Java. It was chosen because it has two water sources which can be processed into clean water, i.e. salt water and rainwater. The design concept was Ecological Architecture, which is expected to maximize the usage of natural resources by minimizing environmental damage, as well as improving knowledge on efficient water usage through stilted climate responsive building layout strategy, landscape strategy i.e. rain garden, xeriscape and defind tree, space strategy i.e. connecting visual and zoning, material selection strategy i.e. waterproof and climate proof, utility strategy i.e. solar panel combined with wind generator, rain water harvesting and utilization of liquid waste for plants. The xeriscape area was to show plants which don’t require much water, rain garden is to optimize water absorption and main function area was for water processing and water education.
