Abstract

China is one of the largest countries in the world with the largest population and the secondlargest economy country in the world. In 2013, China President Xi Jinping established a trade route through joint development and prosperity by enhancing cross-regional multilateral cooperation, which can be called the Modern Silk Road or One Belt One Road (OBOR). To support OBOR, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) was also formed. In the context of economic strength, AIIB has contributed to increasing China's economic dominance in the world. The emergence of China as a new global power in recent decades has laid the foundation for its strong economic development, resulting in substantial financial capital in the tools and capacity to build the infrastructure offered by AIIB. This article aims to explain how the existence of AIIB supports economic cooperation finds that AIIB and OBOR are China's vigorous attempts to gain economic dominance. This paper shows that The author uses the theory of Geo-economics and National Interests, explaining that AIIB has advantages that this global cooperation provides significant funds for its members by entering into an international agreement with China USD 150 billion or the equivalent of Rp. 2,137.6 trillion per year, which participating countries can loan to build infrastructure. However, the existence of AIIB shows a hidden agenda as China's attempt to shift the dominance of the United States. Also, there are concerns over a China Debt Trap, which causes fear of AIIB.
