Abstract
This research is about the types of slang in the song lyrics contained in Rich Brian's The Sailor and Brightside albums. The objectives of this study are to describe the types of slang words used and to find out the most dominant kind of slang words in these two song albums. The collected data for this research is presented through a descriptive qualitative method using Patridge's theory of slang words (2004). The findings of this study are as follows, from the sixteen songs analyzed by the writer, 53 slang words were found. They are classified into five types of slang words: public house slang, society slang, theater slang, slang in medicine, and soldier's slang. Moreover, according to the second research question, society slang is the most frequent type of slang in these song albums. Of the 53 slang words found in Rich Brian's The Sailor and Brightside albums, society slang was found at most, which is 39 words. Moreover, the slang words identified in public house slang is the second-largest discovery with six words, followed by slang in the theater with five words, slang in medicine with two words, and the last one is determined to be soldier's slang and consists of one word
