Abstract
This study aims to determine the directive speech acts contained in the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil movie. This study discusses two problems; 1) what type of directive speech acts are used in the movie Maleficent: Mistress of Evil? 2) What is the most dominant type of directive speech found in the movie Maleficent: Mistress of Evil? Using a qualitative method, the writer described directive speech acts in the movie Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. The writer used Searle's theory to classify and analyze the data. According to Searle, there are four types of directive speech acts: command, request, prohibition, and question. As a result, there are 136 data found in the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil movie. The data were classified into four types: 31 data of command, 9 data of request, 2 data of prohibition, and 94 data of question. The most dominant directive speech acts used in the study is question with 94 data.
