Abstract

Universitas Diponegoro merupakan salah satu perguruan tinggi besar yang berada di Kota Semarang, dan saat ini menggunakan kampus Tembalang sebagai kampus utama dengan Widya Puraya(WP) sebagai bangunan pusat. WP berfilosofi kuil/bangunan ilmu pengetahuan serta penerapan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, sehingga terdapat fasilitas Perpustakaan; Lembaga Penelitian & Pengabdian Masyarakat. Namun mengingat kampus Tembalang merupakan kampus utama, WP akan difokuskan untuk kegiatan administrasi. Visi Undip sebagai universitas riset yang unggul & target menuju 500 World Class University mengembangkan kawasan kampus sebagai strategi dalam mewujudkan visi dan target tersebut. Salah satunya, pembangunan perpustakaan pusat yang baru. Perpustakaan merupakan elemen utama dalam sebuah perguruan tinggi dan salah satu indikator utama yang mendukung universitas bertaraf internasional. Perpustakaan Pusat yang baru menggunakan spirit of place yang merepresentativekan WP dan menghidupkan jiwa Perpustakaan Pusat dengan konektivitas & interaktif, serta memperkuat Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. Metode perancangan yang digunakan yaitu melakukan analisis terkait spirit of place perpustakaan berdasarkan kualitas ruang perpustakaan, analisis elemen pembentuk yang menghadirkan atmosfir suatu tempat serta elemen arsitektur dari spirit of place berupa ruang dan karakter. Perancangan Perpustakaan Pusat Universitas Diponegoro menggunakan garis imajiner kawasan kampus Tembalang sebagai karakter dan keunikan dari kawasan yang diimplementasikan ke dalam bangunan yang membentuk konektivitas. Diponegoro University is one of the significant universities in Semarang and currently uses the Tembalang campus as the main campus with Widya Puraya (WP) as the central building. WP has a philosophy of temples/science buildings and the application of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, so that there are library facilities; Institute of Research & Community Service. However, since the Tembalang campus is the main campus, WP will focus on administrative activities. Undip's vision as a research university that excels & targets to reach 500 World-Class Universities is to develop the campus area to realize these visions and targets. One of them is the construction of a new central library. Libraries are the main element in a university and one of the leading indicators that support international standard universities. The new Central Library uses the spirit of place, which represents WP and revives the spirit of the Central Library with connectivity & interactiveness, as well as strengthening the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The design method used is to analyze the spirit of place of the library based on the quality of the library space, analyze the forming elements that present the atmosphere of a place and the architectural elements of the spirit of place in the form of space and character. The design of the Diponegoro University Central Library uses an imaginary line in the Tembalang campus area as the character and uniqueness of the area, which is implemented into buildings that form connectivity.
