Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the character traits changes of White Fang by Jack London entitled White Fang. There are two problems in this research. The second is to examine and analyze the most influential factors of society to the changes in White Fang’s character traits. The writer uses the theory of character by Edgar V. Roberts and Georg Simmel’s social theory. The method is library research. It means that the data is taken from books, journals, essays, articles, and some sources on the internet. The writer uses reading and note-taking techniques to collect research data. This study finds that the impacts of society on the changes of White Fang’s character trait are conscientious, obedient, loyal, hard, kind, and brave. The changes in White Fang's character traits are influenced by society consisting of three social factors i.e., the rules that apply in society, interactions between White Fang and his masters, and habits in society.
