Abstract
ABSTRAK PT Putra Sulung Makmur Metal Castindo adalah perusahaan yang telah lama bergerak dalam bidang pengecoran logam. Perusahaan ini menghasilkan produk berupa sparepart wingnut. Sistem produksi yang digunakan adalah produksi make to order. kendala yang dihadapi oleh PT Putra Sulung Makmur Metal Castindo bahwa ditemukan aktivitas proses operasi setup memakan waktu yang cukup lama rata-rata 40 menit. Jika terus terjadi maka akan berdampak pada keterlambatan. Dengan adanya permasalahan tersebut, PT Putra Sulung Makmur Metal Castindo melakukan penurunan waktu setup mengatasi keterlambatan penyelesaian produk wingnut mesin automatic moulding machine. Penurunan waktu setup menggunakan metode Single minute exchange of die (SMED). Metode SMED memisahkan kegiatan setup menjadi dua, yaitu internal setup dan eksternal setup. Internal set-up merupakan kegiatan set- up yang hanya dapat dilakukan pada saat mesin berhenti. Eksternal set-up merupakan kegiatan set-up yang dapat dilakukan pada saat mesin sedang berjalan atau beroperasi. Dengan mengubah internal set-up menjadi eksternal set-up, maka kegiatan set-up yang dilakukan pada saat mesin berhenti dapat dilakukan pada saat mesin berjalan sehingga waktu set-up dapat berkurang. Hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan sebelum penerapan metode SMED menghasilkan waktu setup 38,8 menit dari 21 aktivitas proses operasi setup seluruh aktivitas tersebut dilakukan saat mesin mati atau internal setup menghasilkan rata-rata 101mould. Sedangkan waktu setup setelah penerapan SMED dapat diturunkan menjadi 26,78 menit atau penurunan sebesar 47,61%. Penurunan waktu setup ini meningkatkan produktivitas sebanyak 2 mould/hari dan jika dalam sebulan dengan 26 hari kerja dapat menambah 59 mould sehingga secara total dapat menghasilkan 159 mould/bulan. Kata Kunci : Metode SMED, waktu set-up, eksternal set-up, internal set-up ANALYSIS OF REDUCING SETUP TIME USING SINGLE MINUTE EXCHANGE OF DIE TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY IN AUTOMATIC MOLDING MACHINE Case Study of PT Putra Sulung Makmur Metal Castindo ABSTRACT PT Putra Sulung Makmur Metal Castindo is a company that has been engaged in metal casting for a long time. This company produces products in the form of wingnut spare parts. The production system used is made-to-order production. The obstacle faced by PT Putra Sulung Makmur Metal Castindo was that it was found that the setup operation process activity took quite a long time, an average of 40 minutes. If it continues to occur, it will have an impact on delays. Given these problems, PT Putra Sulung Makmur Metal Castindo has reduced the setup time to overcome delays in completing the automatic molding machine wingnut product. The Single minute exchange of die (SMED) method reduces setup time. The SMED method separates setup activities into two: internal setup an external setup. Internal set-up is a set-up activity that can only be done when the machine is stopped. External set-up is an activity that can be performed while the engine is running or operating. By changing the internal set-up to an external set-up, the set-up activities carried out when the machine is stopped can be carried out while the engine is running to reduce the set-up time. The data processing results show that applying the SMED method resulted in a setup time of 38.8 minutes from 21 activities of the setup operation process. These activities were carried out when the engine was off or the internal setup resulted in an average of 101 molds. Meanwhile, the setup time after implementing SMED can be reduced to 26.78 minutes or a decrease of 47.61%. This decrease in setup time increases productivity by two molds/day, and in a month, with 26 working days, it can add 59 molds, producing 159 molds/month.
