Abstract

Thisis research about lexical and contextual meaning on Red Hot Chili Peppers songs. The problem in this research is to discover the lexical meaning and the type of contextual meaning in the songs. In this research, the researcher chose Red Hot Chili Peppers songs. The descriptive qualitative method and observation were applied to collect the data in this research. The result of lexical meaning defined according to dictionary meaning. The researcher found six types of contextual meaning on Red Hot Chili Peppers songs. They were linguist context, context of situation, context of time, context of place, context of field, and context of culture. There are 24% linguist context, 36% context of situation, 9% context of time, 12% context of place, 10% context of field, 9% and context of culture.
