Abstract
This research is qualitative descriptive research that aims to identify the negative experiences experienced by the main character of the novel The End With Us. The data collection method is media publications in the form of websites, the internet, magazines, and articles as secondary data sources to support the research. When conducting research, the researcher uses objective theories as they need data from the novel as the primary data source to support their research, the researcher uses Max Weber's theories to support research based on social action. The purpose of this research is to find out the factors that support the conflict in the toxic relationship, to find out the causes that lead to the toxic relationship, to know the negative and positive effects that can arise after experiencing a toxic relationship, and to follow the example of how the main character resolve conflicts that occur. The research proves that Lily, the female main character of the novel It Ends With Us, has a toxic relationship with her partner and fight against the adverse toxic relationship experienced by Lily based on that emotion, jealousy, and overreaction by Ryle's male main character caused Lily to experience a toxic relationship have been found to be able to fight toxic relationships. The toxic relationship the main character experiences stems from the childhood traumas of Ryle and Lily. This research proves how Lily escaped the toxic relationships that bound her. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengalaman negatif yang dialami oleh tokoh utama dalam novel It Ends With Us. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah media publikasi berupa website, internet, journal, dan artikel sebagai sumber data sekunder untuk mendukung penelitian. Dalam melakukan penelitian, penulis menggunakan teori Objective karena perlu mendapatkan data dari novel sebagai sumber data primer untuk mendukung penelitian, peneliti menggunakan teori Max Weber yang mendukung penelitian ini berbasis tindakan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui mengenai faktor-faktor yang mendukung terjadinya hubungan merugikan, untuk mengetahui penyebab yang menyebabkan terjadinya hubungan yang merugikan, untuk mengetahui dampak negatif dan positif yang dapat timbul setelah mengalami hubungan merugikan, dan untuk mencontoh bagaimana tokoh utama menyelesaikan konflik yang terjadi.. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa Lily, tokoh utama wanita dalam novel It Ends With Us terbukti mengalami toxic relationship dari pasangan dan berjuang melawan hubungan merugikan yang dialami oleh Lily didasari oleh emosional, kecemburuan, dan reaksi berlebihan dari Ryle, tokoh utama pria dari novel. Hubungan merugikan yang dialami oleh karakter utama bermula dari trauma masa kecil Ryle dan Lily. Penelitian ini membuktikan bagaimana Lily melepaskan diri dari hubungan merugikan yang mengikat.
