Abstract
The study entitled “A Study of Deixis Found in Song Lyrics of Adele’s “25” Album” is aimed at analyzing the deixis used in song lyrics of Adele’s “25” album by using George Yule’s theory. The study in this paper is concerned with how the researcher explains the types of deixis and the functions of deixis used in the “25” album. In conducting research, the researcher uses the descriptive qualitative method, describing the types of deixis in which the data are taken from listening and reading song lyrics in this album. Then the researcher identifies and classifies the deixis in Adele’s song lyrics. The last step is that the researcher analyzes the data which are supported by the theory of George Yule. From all the data analyzed from Adele’s song lyrics from the “25” album, the researcher found the types of deixis are person deixis, spatial deixis, and temporal deixis. Person deixis consists of first-person deixis, second-person deixis, and third-person deixis. Spatial deixis is used to describe the location of a participant in a speech event. Temporal deixis is used to point to a certain period. There are six functions from that type of deixis; a subject, an object, a possessive adjective, a possessive pronoun, an adverb of place, and an adverb of time. Penelitian yang berjudul “A Study of Deixis Found in Song Lyrics of Adele’s “25” Album” bertujuan untuk menganalisis deiksis yang digunakan dalam lirik lagu Adele dalam album “25” dengan menggunakan teori dari George Yule. Kajian yang ada di dalam penelitian ini berkaitan dengan cara peniliti menjelaskan jenis�jenis deiksis dan fungsi deiksis dalam album “25”. Dalam melakukan penelitian, peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dimana peneliti mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis deiksis yang datanya diambil dari mendengarkan dan membaca lirik lagu dalam album ini. Kemudian penulis mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasikan deiksis yang digunakan dalam lirik lagu Adele. Langkah terakhir adalah penulis menganalisis data yang didukung oleh teori George Yule. Dari semua analisis data yang diambil dari lirik lagu Adele album “25” penulis menemukan jenis-jenis deiksis seperti deiksis persona, deiksis tempat, dan deiksis waktu. Deiksis persona terdiri dari orang pertama, orang kedua, dan orang ketiga. Deiksis tempat digunakan untuk menggambarkan lokasi dalam peristiwa tutur. Deiksis waktu digunakan untuk menunjukkan periode waktu tertentu. Ada enam fungsi dari jenis�jenis deiksis tersebut, yaitu subjek, objek, kata sifat posesif, kata ganti posesif, kata keterangan tempat, dan kata keterangan waktu.
