Abstract

ABSTRACT The solar system is one of the natural science lessons taught to students, especially elementary school students. It is felt that book or video media are not effective enough to convey material, especially complex material such as the solar system. One of the interesting natural science learning materials to be developed using Augmented Reality is learning about the solar system. Augmented Reality technology is one of the technologies that is currently developing. Technology that combines the virtual world and the real world in real time is called Augmented Reality. In Indonesia, Augmented Reality technology is relatively new and is being developed for making games, simulations, learning media and so on. Combining Augmented Reality technology with natural science learning, especially regarding the solar system, can increase students' comprehension, imagination and will, because it is packaged in an attractive form with a 3D object display which makes the object look more real so that it can encourage the learning process to be interactive, practical and pleasant. This solar system learning application uses a markerless tracking method with the help of the Vuforia Ground Plane. This application will later help teachers and students study the solar system without having to have globe-shaped props. It is hoped that with this application the solar system learning process will be much more enjoyable and easier to understand. The result of this research is the Android-based application "AR Solar System". Keywords: Augmented Reality, Learning, Solar System, 3D Objects, Markerless Tracking, Vuforia Ground Plane.
