Abstract
ABSTRACT Rice is a very important cultivated plant, especially in Asia because rice itself is a staple food which is the main commodity in meeting food needs. Indonesia is a country with the highest level of rice consumption in Asia, beating Japan, Korea, Malaysia and other Asian countries. Diseases of rice plants are the main factor in the decline in rice production in Indonesia and have a huge impact on humans and even cause death. The number of deaths due to food shortages has been recorded since the 1970s as many as 1.02 billion people worldwide. In fact, according to the UN Population Found (2000) predicts there will be an additional death rate of around 2.32 billion people in 2050 due to food shortages throughout the world. Because of that, early detection is needed to find out the disease and also information to eradicate/treat diseases in rice so that rice disease is not contagious and gets worse so that rice production can be maximized. Artificial intelligence can be implemented in handling this case where only by looking at the shape of the plant leaves on it, the system will detect what type of disease has infected the rice plant as well as how to overcome it by using image classification processing.
