Abstract
This study concerns about code-switching phenomenon found in Sarah Sechan Talk Show. The writer is interested in Sarah Sechan Talk Show because the talk show is fun and unique. The conversations in this talk show are interesting, funny, and humorous. The main purpose of this research is to find code-switching phenomenon in Sarah Sechan Talk Show. This research has three objectives. The first one is to find type of code-switching found in Sarah Sechan Talk Show. The second is to analyse the reason of code-switching found in Sarah Sechan Talk Show. The third is to observe clause types of English found Sarah Sechan Talk Show. The method of the research in this study is descriptive research.The reference books were used as the basic theories to find types of code-switching, the reasons of code-switching, and the clause types of English. The object of this research is script of conversation in Sarah Sechan Talk Show. The data were used in this research were video of bilingual episodes of Sarah Sechan containing code-switching Bahasa Indonesia-English. All of the videos were taken from Youtube. Based on data analyses, there were 181 code-switching found in Sarah Sechan Talk Show. The most commonly used types of code switching is intra-sentential switching (41,43%). The following type is inter-sentential switching (38,67%) and followed by tag-switching (19,90%). Moreover, there are 56 data found in the reasons of code-switching found. The highest frequent reason of code-switching is particular topic (39,28%). The second place is repetition (26,80%), followed by group identity (16,07%) in the third place. The following type is interjection (8.92%), continued by being empathic (7,14%). The last is clarifying (1,78%). However, quoting is not found in this research. The last finding is clause types of English. There are two types of English clause found in this talk show. There are 62 independent clauses and 8 dependent clauses (4 noun clauses, 1 adjective clause, and 3 adverbial clauses). Keywords: code-switching, bilingualism, SarahSechan Talk Show, clauses type
