Abstract
Kata Kunci: Perancangan Tata Letak Fasilitas, Systematic Layout Planning, Material Handling, Plywood ABSTRACT CV Temon Raya is a manufacturing company specializing in plywood production and distribution. Established in October 2016, the company operates on a spacious area of 2000 m2, with the production floor occupying 1,080 m2. Various workstations are strategically placed within the production floor to maximize efficiency and minimize distances. For example, the storage of raw materials is conveniently located 7-8 meters away from the rotary machine. Similarly, the raw material storage area is positioned 25 meters away from the press dryer machine, while the press dryer and veneer repair station are situated 23 meters apart. Lastly, the veneer repair station and the glue spreader machine are positioned at a distance of 11 meters. To ensure optimal efficiency in facility and machine placement, as well as work area organization, the company utilizes the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method. This approach guarantees efficiency and optimality within the available space. By using SLP and processing relevant data, the proposed layout shows a significant improvement in material handling distance. Specifically, the material handling distance is reduced by 50.81% from the initial layout, decreasing from 9,003.5 meters to 4,428.5 meters. Additionally, the proposed layout leads to a 50.81% decrease in material handling costs, reducing them from IDR 80,000 per day to IDR 39,349.14 per day. Based on the research results, which can reduce distance and material handling costs on the production floor, it is hoped that the proposed layout design can become a benchmark for redesigning the CV Temon Raya production floor layout. This layout is necessary because the proposed layout can reduce distance and material handling costs by 50.81%.
