Abstract

This study is conducted to analyze and show the individualism which are portrayed in movie Brave. There are three problems which are mentioned in this study: (1). To know how strong free will portrayed in the film (2). To show self-reliance and independence which are portrayed in the film (3). To indicate the main character’s bravery to achieve happiness. The writer uses the Objective Theory and Psychological Theory to analyze the movie. The data were analyze using descriptive qualitative method focusing on the textual data of the movie. The data were collected by reading the script of the movie repeatedly, watching the movie more than once, taking note of the important dialogue and conversations, reading some references related to the theory, classifying the important and proper data, and also drawing conclusion. The analyzes of this study results in some findings. The writer finds that Individualism in the film is seen in the forms of the main character’s strong free will, self-reliance and independence, bravery to achieve happiness which are done in rebellious actions. Those are presented in the main character of the movie and are depicted clearly through the dialogues and actions. The main character of the movie holds her right until the end of the story and tries to prove to the society that she is right. The freedom in achieving the goals and desires are done by the main character persistently, and also the main character holds her right to be happy until the end of the story.
