Abstract

IMPLEMENTATION OF A WEB-BASED LIBRARY INFORMATION SYSTEM (Case Study: SMK Negeri 1 Tepus, Gunung Kidul, DIY) Henry Permana Bidja, Farida Ardiani, S.Kom., M.Kom Information Systems Study Program, Faculty of Science & Technology Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta Jl. Ringroad Utara Jombor Sleman Yogyakarta Email: henrypermanabidja@gmail.com, farida.ardiani@staff.uty.ac.id ABSTRACT SMK Negeri 1 Tepus, established in 2008, has experienced significant growth with the addition of various facilities, including a library. However, the book borrowing system in the school library is still conducted manually using library cards and handwritten records. This process results in several challenges, such as time inefficiency, potential damage or loss of books, and difficulties in monitoring book returns. In light of the need to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the book borrowing system, this study aims to implement a web-based information system that simplifies the book lending and returning process. The proposed system is expected to address existing issues by providing features that include monitoring loans, managing delays or lost books, and regulating access for student library staff. With the implementation of a web-based library application, it is anticipated that the book borrowing process will be more efficient, reducing the potential for errors and increasing student compliance in returning books on time. This system is also expected to facilitate the school's ability to monitor and manage the book collection while minimizing losses related to lost or damaged books. This research aims to provide effective solutions to the challenges of book borrowing and to benefit both the school and its students.
