Abstract

The advancement of information technology in the modern era is a critical factor in the progress of various fields, including the pharmaceutical sector. Technological innovations in this domain have numerous positive impacts, particularly in the management of pharmacies, which play a vital role in serving the community. However, the high number of pharmacies in a given area often leads to confusion among residents when trying to locate the nearest pharmacy that meets their complete medication needs. This study aims to develop a location-based service (LBS) application to facilitate the community’s ability to find the nearest pharmacy and reduce search time. The development of this application employs the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology, which encompasses the stages of analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The application under consideration has been developed with a number of key features, including, but not limited to, user registration, location-based searching for pharmacies, and scanning of drug prescriptions. Application testing, employing the black box testing method, has demonstrated that the system has functioned conforming to the anticipated operational capabilities. The application’s implementation is expected to facilitate enhanced access to information regarding proximate pharmacies and expedite the procurement of pharmaceutical services.
