Abstract
This study examines the application of the Design Thinking methodology in redesigning the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of an academic repository platform. With the growing demand for user-centered design, this research explores how the five-stage Design Thinking process—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—can enhance the usability and visual appeal of the system. Through user interviews and observational analysis, several issues were identified, including poor navigation, limited accessibility, and monotonous visual design, as reflected by a low initial System Usability Scale (SUS) score. After redesign implementation, the SUS score significantly increased to 93.58, placing it in the "Excellent" category (Grade A). The modern and minimalist interface improves feature accessibility, facilitates information retrieval, and encourages user engagement. These results indicate that Design Thinking is highly effective in producing a functional, visually appealing UI/UX that meets user needs.
