Abstract

State Elementary School (SDN) Krandan faces several significant challenges in conducting traditional exams, including lengthy correction times and high operational costs. To address these issues, an Android-based online exam application was developed using the Kotlin programming language in Android Studio. The application utilizes Firebase technology to manage and store data efficiently and centrally. This study adopted the prototyping method for system development and employed Black Box Testing to identify any functional issues. Key features of the application include secure user login, flexible exam question management, automatic submission when time expires to minimize cheating, and an auto-grading system to accelerate scoring. Testing results show that the application significantly reduces correction time and drastically lowers operational costs. Feedback from teachers and students at SDN Krandan was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the app’s ability to simplify exam administration while delivering faster, more accurate, and transparent assessments. The implementation of this application is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the exam process and improve the overall quality of academic assessments at the school in a sustainable manner.
