Abstract

This study discusses three problems. The first problem is to observe the forms of code mixing. The second is to find out the probable reasons for using code mixing. The third is to find out the dominant language used in the conversation. The sources of data were the dialogue of Cinta Laura with Raffi and Billy in Raffi Billy and Friends Talk Show. The author analyzes form of code mixing based on Suwito’s theory. Data is analyzed by qualitative descriptive method. Then the results of the analysis will be displayed. The first answer for the first problem, the author uses 46 data from the conversation of the hosts Raffi and Billy with the guest star Cinta Laura in Raffi Billy and Friends Talk Show. The analysis focuses on four forms of code mixing, there are: code mixing in the forms of word, phrase, clause, and idiom. To answer the second problem, the author found two probable reasons for using code mixing, which are: English is common language in community, English is needed in entertainment field, English helps people to convey message effectively, English is used to influence the listener and English as an alternate language. The third problem is answered at the end of the conversation where Indonesian is the dominant language used in the Talk Show. Keyword: Analysis, Language, code mixing, Raffi Billy and Friends
