This study applies final paper uses objective theory in his research. The data are analysed by using qualitative method that focuses on the context of the narrative and dialog in the novel, The Hate U Give. Data were collected by reading the novel repeatedly, finding other data from the internet such as journals and other literary books. At the end of this research, the study finds that Starr's self-acceptance is caused by several internal and external factors that become important catalysts. From this data, Starr passed and changed her self-acceptance solely to gain personal freedom and avoid racial discrimination. However, she did not necessarily get what she wanted in the white community but rather a moral dilemma and guilt for keeping her true identity a secret to her boyfriend and friends.
