Abstract
This research analyzes the roles and challenges faced by single fathers in the novel Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthew Logelin. This novel tells the true story of a single father who had to raise his daughter after losing his wife. This research aims to understand the depiction of Matt Logelin's character as a single father, the role he plays, and the challenges he faces in fulfilling his responsibilities as a parent. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach by analyzing intrinsic elements in the novel, such as characters, themes and storyline. Primary data was taken directly from the novel, while secondary data was obtained from journals, theses and related articles. The research results show that Matt Logelin is portrayed as a loving and tough father, even though he has to face deep sadness due to the loss of his wife. The challenges he faced included emotional stress, social stigma, financial difficulties, and the need to fulfil the dual role of father and mother. However, love and dedication towards his daughter, Maddy, is the main motivation that helps Matt overcome various obstacles.
