Abstract
This research analyzes the types of satire and the function of satire in comments on skin care review video content on social media, especially on the Dokter Detektif account on the TikTok application. Dokter Detektif's role in its content is to uncover all fraud in skincare products through its content, therefore the aim of this research is to find out the type and function of satire used by netizens in the comments section on Dokter Detektif's account around 2024. This research identifies two types of satire based on Paulson's (2019) theory, namely Horatian and Juvenalian from 25 review content videos, then categorizes these expressions according to their function based on Poque's (2020) theory. The researcher used aa qualitative descriptive method in this research and found 55 satire data with 10 samples for the Horatian satire type and 10 samples for the Juvenalian type along with 3 functions. From the research results, 32 data were found which included Horatian satire and 23 data which included Juvenalian satire. Moreover, the researcher found that there were 19 data that functioned as entertainment, 35 data as social criticism, and 1 data as a lesson. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the understanding ofthe dynamics of digital communication, the role of satire in social media, and can be useful in marketing strategies and English language education to improve understanding.
