Abstract

This research is entitled Connotative Meanings Found in Song Lyrics of Album Reality Club Presents... By Reality Club. This research aims to describe the connotative meanings found in the album Reality Club Presents.... This research discusses two problems: 1. What are the connotative meanings found in the song lyrics of the album Reality Club Presents...? 2. What are the messages delivered in the song lyrics of the album Reality Club Presents...? By using Geoffrey Leech’s (1981), connotative meaning is an additional or secondary meaning beyond the literal definition, shaped by reference, personal or cultural perception that enhance communication. This research also employs a qualitative descriptive method. By taking notes from the lyrics and arranging the data as the methods of collecting data, the researcher provides a description connotative meanings used in Reality Club’s song lyrics. The researcher discovered 84 data in song lyrics of the album Reality Club Presents..., the songwriter frequently employs connotative meanings throughout the song’s lyrics to convey messages more emotionally, imaginatively, and deeply. Moreover, the messages delivered in the songs on this album are about relationships, and the complex dynamics of romantic relationships that do not always go smoothly. Afterwards, this research is expected to serve as a useful reference for future researchers who are interested in analyzing connotative meanings in literary or musical texts.
