Abstract
This final project report presents the analysis of the safety stock method calculation implementation, which aims to prevent stockouts and maintain operational smoothness in controlling the inventory of raw materials, auxiliary materials, and finished products at Aleta Leather, an MSME manufacturing company specializing in fashion made from genuine cowhide. Aleta Leather faces problems in managing inventory, particularly due to the lack of structured stock documentation and an inadequate recording system. This issue has an impact on the mismatch between the amount of available stock and actual needs, resulting in either excess stock that causes wasteful storage costs or shortages that have the potential to hinder the production process and reduce customer satisfaction levels. The safety stock method is implemented as a control strategy to strike a balance between availability and cost efficiency, by providing reserve inventory that can anticipate uncertainty in market demand and delays in supply. In this study, the author was directly involved in recording activities, calculating inventory cards, and calculating safety stock requirements using the average method for raw materials, auxiliary materials, and finished products. Data sources were collected through direct observation, internal company documentation, and discussions with related staff. The results obtained indicate that implementing the safety stock method can have a positive impact on inventory management at Aleta Leather. Not only does it enhance the accuracy of stock recording, but it also enables companies to determine the optimal procurement quantities for each type of material and product. This more systematic control also minimizes the risk of stock shortages or excesses, and supports smooth production processes and overall customer service.
