Abstract

The rapid development of the tourism sector demands innovation in presenting destination information that aligns with users’ needs and interests. This case study examines user preferences for creating a tourism destination recommendation application. The topic was selected because Gunungkidul has exceptional tourism potential but lacks a fully developed digital recommendation system that can be tailored to individual users. This research aims to develop a prototype application design that can adjust recommendations based on user interests and optimize the use of Figma as an interface design tool. The study employs a qualitative approach with a Research and Development (R&D) methodology. Data collection was conducted through literature reviews, observation of similar applications, and secondary data from internship activities. The primary outcome of this research is the design of a user preference-based tourism destination recommendation application prototype for the Gunungkidul case study. The findings conclude that an application design focused on user preferences is effective in helping tourists make informed travel decisions, and Figma proves to be an efficient tool for visualizing interactive designs during the early stages of development.
