Abstract

Indonesia is a country characterized by a rich cultural diversity. One significant aspect of its cultural heritage that reflects identity, history, and local wisdom is traditional weaponry. However, in the modern era, the younger generation's understanding of and interest in traditional weapons tend to decline due to technological advancements and shifts toward digital lifestyles. This research aims to develop an Android-based application that introduces traditional Indonesian weapons using Augmented Reality (AR) technology as an interactive educational tool. The application was developed using Unity and programmed in C#. The system utilizes marker-based tracking with the Vuforia SDK. The device's camera detects markers and then displays 3D models of 38 traditional weapons, each representing a different province. Data on traditional weapons were collected through a literature review of various reliable sources. The application's key features include marker detection, 3D object visualization, brief descriptions of the weapons, voice-over narration, and interactive quizzes. The results of this study indicate that augmented reality technology can serve as an innovative and immersive educational tool for introducing traditional weapons. Furthermore, this application has the potential to support cultural preservation and enhance the younger generation's understanding of the nation's rich heritage.
