Abstract

ABSTRACT The selection process for the OSIS Chair at SMK Negeri 1 Putussibau currently relies on a manual voting system, which is susceptible to fraud, human error, and risks such as data loss and manipulation of voting results. Additionally, the security and confidentiality of voter data are not adequately guaranteed. To address these issues, a web-based e-voting system is proposed to streamline the election process while ensuring the security of voting data. The research was conducted through observation, data collection, system design, implementation, and testing. The security method used in this e-voting system is the Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) cryptographic algorithm, which uses a public-private key mechanism to encrypt and decrypt voter data. The system was developed using the PHP programming language and a MySQL database. Test results demonstrate that the system functions effectively, validating voters, storing voting data in encrypted form, and detecting any data alterations during transmission. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that implementing the RSA algorithm in the e-voting system enhances the security, integrity, and reliability of election data for the OSIS Chairperson at SMK Negeri 1 Putussibau.
