Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to implement a monolithic architecture for a web-based Point of Sale (POS) application to evaluate its feasibility and performance. The primary issue addressed is the need for a simple yet reliable POS system with full integration and efficient management capabilities. The development methodology follows an Iterative Waterfall approach, encompassing stages such as requirements analysis, design (including DFD, ERD, and interface design), implementation using Laravel and MySQL, and functional testing with Black-Box Testing and performance testing with Apache JMeter. The results demonstrate that the developed POS system successfully performs core functions such as authentication, product management, transactions, and reporting, achieving a 100% success rate in functional testing. Performance testing revealed an error rate of 0%, a throughput of 0.19366 requests per second, and an average response time of 2 to 4 seconds, indicating that the system is sufficiently stable for small to medium-scale operations. The study concludes that monolithic architecture is suitable for low-complexity POS applications; however, performance optimization is necessary to improve performance under high load conditions.
