Abstract

ABSTRACT SMP Negeri 4 Banguntapan is a public school located at Jl. Wijoyo Mulyo No. 5, Grojogan, Tamanan, Banguntapan District, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Library management at SMP Negeri 4 Banguntapan is still conducted manually and has not yet been computerized. The current process is as follows: first, students visit the library in person. Then they select books from the shelves in the classification order. Afterwards, the librarian requests the student's library card and records the loan start date and due date, which are also placed behind the book cover. Finally, the borrower may take the book home. This manual system often proves inconvenient for both librarians and students because paper records, which should be archived, are vulnerable to loss or damage, especially from water exposure during rain, which can cause the information to fade or deteriorate. Another issue is the inefficiency in recording and managing data on borrowing, history, and lost-book reports. To address these challenges, a library management information system was developed to facilitate the borrowing and returning of books at SMP Negeri 4 Banguntapan. This system was built using the Flutter framework and the Dart programming language, and it utilizes Google Firebase and MySQL as the database.
