Abstract
ABSTRACT Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that integrates virtual objects into real-time environments. It holds significant potential in education, particularly for visualizing abstract concepts such as chemical bonds. Understanding chemical bonding, especially in hydrocarbons, as explained by Lewis structure theory, can be challenging for students because traditional learning media typically present only two-dimensional images. This research aims to develop an Android-based mobile application that simulates the formation of chemical bonds in hydrocarbon compounds using AR technology. The development method employed is Marker-Based Tracking, utilizing the Unity 3D game engine and the Vuforia SDK. The application is designed to scan physical card markers and display 3D molecular models, validating bond structures according to the octet and duplet rules. Test results demonstrate that the application effectively visualizes the geometric structure of molecules and enhances students’ interactive understanding of chemical bonding concepts. Keywords: Augmented Reality, Chemical Bonding, Lewis Structure, Hydrocarbons, Vuforia, Android.
