Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to design and develop an application called Scentify, a web- and mobile-based perfume recommendation system utilizing a Content-Based Filtering algorithm. The application is intended to assist users in selecting perfumes that match their preferences by considering various attributes such as aroma, concentration, gender, age, longevity, and price range. The development process comprised several stages, including a literature review, data collection through questionnaires, system design, and implementation using Flutter for the mobile interface and Flask for the backend. Preference data were gathered from user questionnaires and combined with perfume data from various reliable sources to establish the foundation for the recommendation system. The implementation results demonstrate that Scentify can provide relevant and personalized recommendations, including features such as a favourites list and exploration of scent type, brand, and perfume category. This research confirms that Content-Based Filtering is effective for perfume recommendation systems and has the potential to advance digital innovation in the lifestyle and perfume e-commerce sectors. Keywords: perfume recommendation, Content-Based Filtering, Flutter, Flask, mobile application, personalization
