Abstract

ABSTRACT The rapid growth of smartphones and social media in Indonesia has transformed how people interact; however, this has also led to excessive use that can disrupt daily routines, including spiritual activities such as reading the Quran. Most digital Quran apps currently offer only reading, translation, and audio features, lacking mechanisms to control social media usage. To address this issue, the Quran Break app was developed as a social media usage limiter that allows users to set access durations according to their preferences. This Android-based app utilizes UsageStatsManager to monitor selected apps and AccessibilityService to enforce restrictions and redirect users to Quran Break when the time limit is reached. Quran content is integrated through the EQuran.id API, enabling dynamic display of surahs, verses, translations, and audio. Black-box testing demonstrated that all features, including login, registration, OTP verification, profile management, app selection, time limits, usage statistics, redirection, and content display, functioned as intended. Furthermore, additional testing on ten Android devices running versions 9 through 16 showed consistent system performance, while API testing returned a 200 response with complete data, confirming successful system integration. Keywords: Al-Quran Application, Digital Wellbeing, Mobile, Screen Time Monitoring, Black Box Testing.
