Abstract

Harmonious Contextual Architecture Approach in Revitalizing the Tungul People's Market in Ngabang District, West Kalimantan The Harmonious Contextual Architecture approach serves as the design basis to create balance among people, the environment, and buildings. This approach emphasizes integrating local cultural elements, surrounding environmental conditions, and building functions, resulting in a market design that is aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, sustainable, and responsive to user needs. Through revitalization with this approach, the Tungkul People's Market is expected to become an organized, healthy, and relevant economic space for the people, aligned with regional development. Revitalization of the Tungkul People's Market in Ngabang District, West Kalimantan, is necessary to align with the long-term development direction outlined in the Landak Regency RPJPD (Regional Medium-Term Development Plan) for 2025–2045, particularly by improving the quality of public infrastructure and strengthening the local economy. The market’s existing condition presents key issues, including inefficient zoning, inadequate facilities, and a slum-like environment. Based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for type C markets, the Tungkul People’s Market accommodates 282 vendors across 29 courtyards, 129 kiosks, and 124 stalls, requiring reorganization and spatial improvements
