Abstract
This study about suffix –ing on songs lyrics Adele Laurie Blue Adkins ‘25’ album. The songs are the metaphors for things or of situations Adele Laurie Blue Adkins. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the verb –ing forms on songs lyrics Adele Laurie Blue Adkins ‘25’ album. This research has two objecyives. The first one is looking for of the verb –ing in songs lyric Adele ‘25’ album. The second is looking for functions of verb –ing. The method of research in this study is a qualitative descriptive. The reference books were used as the basic theories to find the subcategories of verb – ing form and function in verb –ing. The object of this research is songs in Adele’s ‘25’ album. The data of this research are the form of verb, noun, adjective and adverb. The data collecting technique is done by observing. After that, the analysis technique is done by making a content analysis. The data and noting are put into the data sheet. The result of this research shows that there are 23 –ing forms functioning as a verbs, 9 as nouns, 7 functioning as adjective, 5 functioning as adverbs. Key words: Adele “25”,Verb-ing, Function
