Abstract

ABSTRACT Train is a means of mainland transport which has recently become a favorite for the community. Service and comfort improvement of passengers being one attraction for the community to choose this means of transport. In addition, the numerous users of the train have also made problems. One of them is traffic accident that made life casualty. The main cause of the accident on railroad crossing is the absence of the doorstop in many points. Hence, in this final duty experimental work writer will develop an Arduino Uno based supervisory device for railroad crossing without doorstop. The instrument is expected to provide information to people who will cross railroads without doorstops or officer on duty, that train position are close to the crossing gate and will be able to minimize the crash on the railroad. Research methods that were used in building this device are data collection method, need analysis and instrument system designing. The result of the study is the manufacture of railroad crossings safety devices without doorstops using an acrylic framework materials which is arranged in the form of a beam to place the sensor and a wooden block for the support. The operating system of the device is controlled by using Arduino which is furnished with PIR sensors, relay, siren, indicator lamp and accu. The sensor is placed on the rail track to detect the passing train. While the sensor is placed before the railroad crossing without doorstops by the distance of 500-1000m and faces toward the railroad.
