Abstract

There is still a lot of use of human power in industry which indirectly makes the development of industry itself hampered. Limitations of ability that are also influenced by human emotions, can reduce effectiveness and efficiency in a job. To answer these problems, the automation process of tomato separators is one of the right solutions. For example, if in the process of automation it is necessary to detect the existence of an object, then proceed with the detection of the color of the object to detect the color of objects, the more complex the automation system, the more sensors needed. The main objective of this research is to design an automation system for tomato separators using a USB camera as a color sensor to detect the maturity level of tomatoes to process the image of tomato objects moving through conveyors in the form of RGB values captured by the camera, images obtained can classify grade the tomato becomes ripe or raw. The results obtained in this study were the detection of fruit colors tested in the form of fruit separation values based on their color. This research was carried out as a basis in achieving automation in the plantation sector. The success percentage of this tool after testing is 80%. Keywords: Matlab, Camera, conveyor, Arduino, Servo motor, Driver.
