Abstract
Varieties that have certain advantages are called superior varieties, and the superiority of the variety in question is the superiority of its characteristics ranging from the age of harvest, the taste of rice, the yield, and others. Based on data from the Indonesian Center for Rice Crop Research, up to now there have been 48 varieties of Inpari, 19 varieties of Hipa, 11 varieties of Inpago, and 9 varieties of Inpara that have been released and may increase every year. This number does not include old superior varieties that are still cultivated to date such as Ciherang, IR 64, Cibogo, IPB 3S, and others. The abundance of these rice varieties and their respective criteria raises problems, how do seed breeders choose the right varieties so that the maximum yield is maintained. There is a solution to these problems, namely by using the help of a Decision Support System (SPK). Therefore, in this study the authors made a decision support system for selecting superior varieties of rice using the Analytic Hierachy Process (AHP) method. This method was chosen because it can produce decisions that are more accurate and more objective at 64%. While the results of the system made in the form of a ranking of superior varieties of rice from the best to the worst with the percentage of ease in using the system amounted to 52.5%.
