Abstract

Coffee is one of the agricultural products which has a high economic value, even a source of foreign exchange for a country, including Indonesia. Increasing demand for coffee in market developments and world trade makes coffee producers or farmers more selective about the quality of coffee beans. However, to choose coffee beans manually, they have problems, due to the subjective nature or lack of understanding of science. This study processes the image of coffee beans using the K-Nearest Neighbor method based on color and texture. The purpose of this study is to identify coffee bean defects according to the standards quality set by the National Standards Agency. There are three categories of seed defects to be introduced, namely young seeds, mushroom seeds, and normal seeds. The image data used is 60 training data and 15 test data. The results of data suitability accuracy for K = 1, K = 5 and K = 7 are 66.67%, while K = 3 is 60%, and the total is 65%. Keyword: Coffee Beans, Image Processing, K – Nearest Neighbor.
