Abstract

Activities of optimizing e-book search engine are very important to be carried out. It is aimed to help users search for the relevant e-book smoothly. Sometimes, users find out some obstacles in their searching. One of them is when the users have to input the same keywords to find the relevant e-books. It surely makes the searching process less effective and efficient, and probably makes the users get bored. Thus, search engine that can be used to conduct web-based searches by applying the Information Retrieval System (IRS) using the Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) method with the Singular Value Decomposisition (SVD) approach is created. It is able to find e-books that have been published long time ago. It is also able to understand the relationship between terms and concepts in content and is able to classify e-book search results according to related topics. By using Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) method with Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) approach and designed interface web-based, e-book search application can make the users easier to find e-books that are relevant to the keywords entered by not only searching for titles but also e-book contents.
