Abstract
Archives management is one of the main activities at the OKU South Sumatra Development, Research and Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) in South Sumatra. This activity is handled by the administration and general sub-section of Archives Administration at the OKU (BAPPEDA) office in South Sumatra. Archiving is currently still done conventionally where it still uses the agenda book manually. To make an outgoing letter, another sub-section must ask for a letter number to the administration department, and this has an impact on the process of making outgoing letters long. In addition, the document archiving process is still not well organized, searching for inefficient mail archives. Mail filing information systems that will be designed can improve the effectiveness of archive management both incoming mail archives, outgoing mail archives and reports. A web-based system designed can be run through personal computers (PCs) or laptops. The system is created using the PHP programming language and MySQL as a database. The method used in system design is the method of observation, interviews and literature studies, while the system development method uses the waterfall model and Levensthein Distance algorithm to support the system.
