Abstract

ABSTRACT Concrete is one of the building materials most commonly used for various applications of modern construction technology. This is because concrete is used as the main raw material for the construction of multi-storey buildings, bridges, and foundations. With advances in technology, it is expected that the use of concrete can minimize the resulting damage in the fire at a high temperature and long duration. The research method employed was the addition of castables as a substitute for cement with mixture rations of 2.5% and 5% using fc '25 Mpa and at 28 days. This was experimental research using cylindrical concrete. It made a comparison whose results were analyzed afterwards. Testing results suggest that the addition of castable cement as a substitute for cement was less efficient because based on post-combustion concrete compressive strength testing results, the highest compressive strength values were generated by normal concrete without castable mixture, which were 29.53 MPa and 18.77 MPa at combustion temperatures of 300°C and 700°C, respectively. From the research into the use of castables as a substitute for cement in concrete with a mixture level of 2.5% and 5%, there were several comparisons obtained for compressive strength and a decrease in the slump value. For post-combustion testing at a temperature of 300°C for 7 hours, normal concrete, concrete mixed with castables by 2.5%, and concrete mixed with castables by 5% underwent a decrease of 25.86%, 18.43%, and 29.20%, respectively. Then, for the post-combustion testing at a temperature of 700°C for 7 hours, the resulting decrease in the concrete’s compressive strength was higher. Normal concrete, concrete mixed with castables by 2.5%, and concrete mixed with castables by 5% underwent a decrease of 52.88%, 34.93%, and 41.02%, respectively. This research discovered that a decrease in compressive strength was greater in normal concrete than those in concrete mixed with castables. Keywords: Concrete, Castable, Post-Combustion.
