Abstract
The objectives of this research are to find out the phonological changes which occurs in Padang dialect and Kuranji dialect. Besides, this research discusses two problems. The first is to analyze the type of phonological changes between Padang dialect and Kuranji dialect. The second problem is to determine the structure of phonological changes between Padang dialect and Kuranji dialect. This research is qualitative research which uses empirical facts in collecting and analyzing the data through three ways. The first is by gathering the data from books and articles; the second is by interviewing the informants via telephone; and the third is by implementing objectives theory, observing and noting. This research shows that there are six types phonological changes between Padang dialect and Kuranji dialect include anaptyxis, aphaeresis, paragoge, apocope, syncope and no phonological changes. Each type of phonological changes between Padang dialect and Kuranji dialect has a different structure. Key words: phonological changes, Padang dialect, Kuranji dialect
