Abstract

Along with the development of the times and the development of information technology, now everything can be reached using technology. In other words, computers have an important role. Computers can support pattern recognition automatically, such as a problem that is currently taking attention, both in terms of facial patterns, fingerprints, signatures and other character patterns. One of the disadvantages of computers compared to humans is recognizing character patterns if they do not use supporting methods. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is a method or concept that takes on the human nervous system. In the ANN system there are several methods used to conduct training on computers made. Training is used to improve accuracy or the ability of computers to recognize patterns. One of the ANN algorithms used to train system data is backpropagation. With the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method, the algorithm can produce a system that can recognize numerical handwriting patterns that can make it easier for humans to do pattern recognition. The results of the testing process using the Backpropagation algorithm reached 76.67% with 30 data numbers trained. The test results from the test data reached 10% of the 10 test data.
