Abstract
ABSTRAK Pelabuhan Kalimas berlokasi di Willemstraat atau kini lebih dikenal dengan kawasan sekitar jembatan merah, tepatnya berada di sekitaran Jl. Kalimas Timur. Awal mula berdirinya Pelabuhan Kalimas ini yakni tahun 1777, ketika ujung timur Pulau Jawa berada di bawah pengawasan VOC (Louish, 2014). Pelabuhan ini digunakan oleh VOC Belanda sebagai tempat untuk melakukan ekspor berbagai produk – produk seperti indigo, kopi, dan tebu dari Pelabuhan Surabaya. Dari situluah kemudian Kota Surabaya memiliki peran dalam sektor ekonomi. Selain itu, pembangunan kanal – kanal pada Pelabuhan Kalimas ini digunakan agar VOC dapat lebih mudah untuk menjangkau Kota Surabaya. Lokasi perencanaan berada di dalam kawasan Pelabuhan Kalimas, lebih tepatnya berada di Jl. Kalimas Baru No.136, Perak Utara, Pabean Cantian, Kota Surabaya, Jawa Timur. Lokasi site ini menghadap ke arah timur dari Sungai Kalimas. Selain itu kawasan dalam lokasi site perencanaan ini merupakan salah satu dari lokasi di Indonesia yang memiliki status sebagai “Obyek Vital Nasional”. Kemudian, site yang akan dijadikan sebagai Museum Pelabuhan Kalimas pada kawasan ini memiliki luas 7785 m2, ukuran ini merupakan sebagian dari kawasan Pelabuhan Kalimas yang memiliki luas keseluruhan kurang lebih 15 ha. Dengan adanya latar belakang yang kuat dari sejarah yang dimiliki oleh Pelabuhan Kalimas. Maka, perancangan Museum Pelabuhan Kalimas ini, memiliki peran serta andil dalam melestarikan sejarah dan cerita masa lalu yang di miliki oleh Pelabuhan Kalimas, agar pelabuhan yang masih aktif hingga hari ini tersebut dapat menjadi cerita untuk generasi berikutnya. Baik itu dalam konteks Pelabuhan Kalimas itu sendiri, maupun dalam konteks perkembangan Kota Surabaya pada umumnya. Kata kunci: Pelabuhan Kalimas, Museum Pelabuhan Kalimas, Sejarah ABSTRACT Kalimas Port is located on Willemstraat or now better known as the area around the red bridge, precisely located around East Kalimas Street. The beginning of the establishment of Kalimas Harbor was in 1777 when the eastern tip of Java Island was under the supervision of VOC (Louish, 2014). This port was used by the Dutch VOC as a place to export various products such as indigo, coffee, and sugar cane from the Port of Surabaya. As a result, Surabaya City had a role in the economic sector. In addition, the construction of canals in Kalimas Port made VOC more easily to reach Surabaya. The planning location is in Kalimas Port area, more precisely located at Kalimas Baru Street No.136, Perak Utara, Pabean Cantian, Surabaya, East Java. The location of this site faces east from Kalimas River. In addition, the area in the location of the planning site is one of the locations in Indonesia which has the status of a “National Vital Object”. Then, the site area that will be used as Kalimas Port Museum in this location is 7785 m2; this size is a part of Kalimas Port area which has an overall area of approximately 15 ha. Knowing a strong background from the history possessed by Port of Kalimas, the design of Kalimas Port Museum has a role to play in preserving the history and past stories held by Kalimas Port, so that the port, that is still active today, can become a story for the next generation, both in the context of the Kalimas Harbor itself and in the context of the development of Surabaya in general.
