Abstract
This research is a descriptive research. The aim is studying the characterization of Mia in The Princess Diaries. The data are taken from the film itself and books. In doing the research, Objective and Psychological approaches are used. In this research there are two questions, there are: the character of Mia, the main character, in this film before she becomes a princess, and transition of Mia’s character after she becomes a princess. Mia is characterized as a girl who is friendly, honest and easy going, and responsible. After she is told that she is a princess, she was not proud. She becomes serious and not easy going anymore, and becomes more responsible, friendly, dares to change, and honest. This research show that Mia is friendly, honest,easy going, and responsible person, the transition of Mia’s personality are serious and well mannered, more friendly, dare to change and responsible.
