Abstract

ABSTRACT Underwater robot is one type of mobile robots whose application is to perform underwater activities. Generally underwater robots are grouped into two types: AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) and ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). In this research, the author will design an underwater robot as a ROV-based underwater exploration tool capable of moving underwater. In order that the robot can display the situation in the water, the robot is equipped with IP camera connected with wifi router. IP camera is located on the front of the robot. Robots are controlled via smartphone android devices with wifi communication. On the water surface there is a device that consists of router. The device is connected with a robot using cable with a length of 5 meters. Inside the robot there is an arduino mega microkontroler as the main system. In order for the robot to move and maneuver in the water, the robot is equipped with three motors with a type of submersible pump mounted on the body of the robot. The most important thing in designing ROV robot is the waterproof system. Tests were conducted on the pool with depths up to 125cm. The result shows that Robots can maneuver well.
