Abstract

ABSTRACT One of the key factors in the progress of a country or region is the availability of energy and the utilization of existing energy. In general, the source of raw energy is converted into electrical energy before being harnessed and converted into other energy and used for other equipment. Electrical energy that can be enjoyed as it is now begins with the generation process. However, as the population in Indonesia increases and the demand for energy supplies increases, there is a huge difference between the supply needs and the availability of energy resources. Renewable energy becomes a very promising option to overcome this problem. Renewable energy is a very promising alternative energy source and its application can be done as early as possible. The use of renewable energy in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta, is realized through the development of various scale wind turbines in the Pandansimo Beach area, Bantul Regency. The electrical energy produced by wind turbines on Pandansimo Beach is still not enough to meet the needs in the region. The purpose of this final project is to get an idea of the ideal wind turbines that can be built in this region, which can work optimally to convert wind to electricity so that it can meet the needs of the region. The method used is observation, literature study and wind turbine design. Observations were carried out by directly observing PLTH Pandansimo and looking at the types of turbines that had operated. Furthermore, the data obtained are compared with studies or journals regarding the efficiency of existing wind turbines. From this process, a wind turbine design that is ideal for use in the Pandansimo Beach area will be obtained. Based on the research conducted, the most ideal wind turbines used in Pandansimo Beach are WES5 Tulipo and Solwind SW 10/4800 wind turbines. The average wind speed in Pandansimo Bantul Beach area is 3.3 m/s. This speed is relatively low when compared to wind speeds in mainland Europe. The two types of turbines are most ideal for use in the Pandansimo Beach area because both of these turbines can operate in low speed winds but still produce high V out and Rated Power. These wind turbine towers can be combined in a single tower, so that more wind turbines can be built on Pandansimo Beach. Keywords: Wind Turbines, Pandansimo Beach, Renewable Energy, Wind Energy
