Abstract

ABSTRACT Nowadays science in the medical field really needs a system that can analyze blood cell forms to find out possible abnormalities and analysis of the calculation of red blood cells. The method used today is conventional or manually using preparations. This method is not efficient because it requires accuracy in calculations and a long time count. With the advancement of science, measurement will be more accurate by measuring and calculating through the help of digital images. Therefore we need a system that can help doctors in their analysis, namely in the form of a red blood cell calculation automation system and identification of cell deformities based on digital image processing. The proposed system is an application that is designed using Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) as a graphics processor / vector that can be displayed on a Graphical User Interface (GUI), which functions to identify the presence or absence of red blood cells and count the number of red blood cells. Photographs of the blood sample will be inserted into the system, from RGB images to be converted into Grayscale images, and then converted into binner images, Morphological methods are used to obtain blood counts and the Regions Properties method to identify the presence or absence of abnormalities in red blood cells. The program has been quite successful in the calculation and in identifying the presence or absence of abnormalities in red blood cells. The percentage of success reaches 80% for identification of cell abnormalities and 88.3% for calculation. Keywords : Blood Cell, Digital Image, Morphology, Region Properties, Matrix laboratory
