Abstract

ABSTRACT A complex industrial process with a large amount of production requires a system that can work and control the entire production process so that the production and quality of the product is as expected by the producer. Therefore an automation system is designed to control the good and right production process. Program Logic Controller (PLC) is a microcontroller that is used to create automation systems and Human Machine Interface (HMI) is a face-to-face system used in automation systems. The PLC used in this study is the Outseal PLC Shield programmed using the Outseal Studio application, and the HMI used is a 20x4 LCD which is controlled by the Arduino Mega 2560 which is programmed using the Arduino IDE application. The PLC is used to serve as the main control of the system, while the Arduino is used to adjust the rotation angle of the Servo Motor, DC Motor speed, and character display on the 20x4 LCD. The system will run when the Push Button (PB) Start is pressed, then the package is taken through the packaging size detection sensor, then the product will be filled based on the packaging size and counted the number of products with each packaging, then the packaging is brought to the conveyor end position. The system will stop when PB Stop is pressed. The packaging used is of two types, namely size M and size L. Packaging M is filled with 1.7 seconds with a weight of 110g and packaging L is filled with 4 seconds with a weight of 220g. LCD will display information on packaging size, number of packaging M, number of packaging L, and total production. In testing the system, it was found that the reading of the packaging size is accurate. The packaging stops at the ideal filling position, and filling the packaging is in accordance with the predetermined standard with accuracy of L packaging 99.96% and packaging M 99.98%.
